FIRST OUTDOOR RED MEAT MARKET!

The Chicago Farmers Market Program is partnering with Red Meat Market to help celebrate Food Day in Chicago.

Join us at Daley Plaza on Thursday, October 18th for the very first Red Meat Market!  Watch learn from Butcher Demonstrations by Rob Levitt of the Butcher and Larder and Cosmo Goss of Publican Quality Meats,  Chef demonstrations from Sopraffina Market Caffe, and Kendall College’s School of Culinary Arts! Educational talks from Dan Rosenthal, of the Green Chicago Restaurant Co-op, Dr. James Galloway, Asst. Surgeon General, The Zen Butcher, Bartlett Durand, Alan Shannon the Director from the USDA and spin the “Wheel of Meat” to win, well, Meat!

We are also featuring SIX local meat providers that will offer fine local Beef, Pork, Lamb and even Bison for sale! All cuts are frozen and safely taken home in a cooler or bag! Beginning at 7am, you’ll also be able to purchase local fruits, vegetables along with your meat!  The produce stands will be open until 3pm and Red Meat Market until 4pm.

Building a Healthier Chicago has taken the lead on the coordination of Food Day in Chicago this year and Red Meat Market is honored to be a part of that committee.  FOOD DAY is celebrated the entire month of October, designating October 24 as the showcased day.  Please join us on October 18 and together we will celebrate healthy, affordable, safe, and sustainable food!
